KUALA LUMPUR: The initial police investigation found that three explosions that occurred Monday at a gathering in the parking lot Jalan Duta Court Complex here come from a homemade bomb.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said they had to wait for the confirmation of experts and chemists to determine the type and class of explosive.
Among the materials found in the fragments of the explosion was a plastic cone, ball gegalas, watches and batteries, said in a statement broadcast on social networking site Facebook on Tuesday.
"The police have collected all the evidence from the scene and will be sent for analysis and was tracing other witnesses who can assist in the investigation on the incident," said Mohmad.
A total of 4,500 people joined the rally to follow the decision of sodomy involving opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Court has membekaskan and release of the charge of sodomy with a former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan in 2008.
Mohmad said that three explosions that resulted in four people were injured and another was in shock, as well as causing minor damage to vehicles owned by the public.
"Most of the damage is due to hit balls gegalas and the impact of the explosion. Most of the vehicles suffered only minor damage except a motorcycle suffered severe damage," he said.
The explosion of cases are classified according to Section 6 of the Explosives Act 1957 (Act 2007), which if found guilty, be punished with imprisonment up to seven years or fined up to RM10, 000 or both.
Mohmad said the investigation and efforts to trace those responsible underway and the police seek the cooperation of the public who have information to come forward to help. - BERNAMA
