Japan lost RM639.94 billion from the tsunami

TOKYO - Damage to buildings, roads and ports due to the massive earthquake and tsunami in March causing loss of 9.16 trillion Japanese yen (RM639.94 billion), Japan's Cabinet Office said yesterday.
Damage to homes and factories is estimated at around 10.4 trillion yen (RM393.80 billion), while damage to the rivers, ports and roads is expected to reach 2.2 trillion yen (RM83.3 billion).

The destruction of farmland and fishing industry is estimated at about 1.9 trillion yen (RM71.9 billion). Damage to infrastructure such as gas and water utilities is estimated at 1.3 trillion yen

(RM49.3 billion). Government-owned facilities are estimated to suffer damage losses of 1.1 trillion yen (RM41.66 billion). - Reuters
